OpenAI has launched ChatGPT Gov, a version of its flagship chatbot for the US government.
Federal workers can now securely access OpenAI’s models, including the latest GPT-4o, workspace sharing, custom GPTs and IT admin controls.
The chatbot can also be deployed in the federal agencies’ Microsoft Azure cloud services. Bill Gates’s company is a big investor in OpenAI.
The move aims to support government agencies in handling non-public sensitive data. The launch follows President Donald Trump’s Stargate announcement, a $500 billion AI venture with OpenAI, SoftBank and Oracle.
OpenAI is also collaborating with the UK government on a similar initiative.
Since 2024, 90,000+ users across 3,500+ US government agencies have exchanged 18 million+ messages via ChatGPT.
