The Department of Justice (DOJ) has reached a $102 million settlement with Grace Ocean Private Limited and Synergy Marine Private Limited after their container ship, Dali, destroyed Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge in March.

The settlement addresses claims of negligence in ship maintenance that led to the collision, which killed six construction workers. The DOJ alleges the ship operated despite being unseaworthy.

While Baltimore has filed its own claims, the settlement will fund cleanup costs without covering bridge reconstruction.

An FBI investigation into the crew’s actions during the crash is ongoing.
