The Consumer Right to Repair Agriculture Equipment Act was passed by the Colorado Senate on Tuesday, which legally allows farmers to fix their machinery from makers including John Deere and CNH Industrial.

Per the legislation, farm equipment manufacturers are required to provide repair manuals, software and other diagnostic tools to their customers and third parties like independent technicians.

Colorado Governor Jared Polis is expected to sign the bill into law within ten days.

If signed, starting 2023, Colorado will be the first state to allow farmers the right to repair their farming equipment without any legal consequence.

The legislation will help curb the high costs farmers incur when they approach manufacturers for fixing their machinery.
