Tesla is issuing a recall of 11,688 Cybertrucks, marking the fourth time the EV maker took such a step since they went on sale in November, citing issues with front windshield wipers that could malfunction in wet conditions, potentially increasing crash risks.
Alongside the issue, the company is recalling an additional 11,383 Cybertrucks over fears that trunk bed trim sail appliques could become loose, posing a road hazard.
The recall was announced by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on Tuesday. In the documents posted, Tesla reported that the front windshield wiper motor controller can fail due to excessive electrical current.
The Elon Musk company plans to replace the wiper motors and rework or replace the trim pieces at no cost to owners, with notifications scheduled for August 18.
