The United Auto Workers (UAW) filed complaints against former president Donald Trump and Tesla CEO Elon Musk on Tuesday, alleging they illegally threatened to intimidate striking workers and other protected activities, violating labor laws.
The charges stem from Trump’s interview with Musk on the X (previously Twitter) social media platform. He had praised Musk’s labor practices and suggested firing workers who strike.
UAW president Shawn Fain criticized their actions as “disgusting” and “illegal,” a view supported by the AFL-CIO, a major labor federation.
Both Tesla and Trump’s campaign have dismissed the accusations as political stunts.
Meanwhile, the National Labor Relations Board, which received the labor charges, is investigating the claims.
