CrowdStrike disputes Delta Air Lines’ allegations of responsibility for the major flight disruptions and a $500 million loss from a recent tech outage.
Delta saw over 5,000 flight cancellations during the software outage caused by CrowdStrike’s faulty software security update on July 19. It has engaged litigation firm Boies Schiller Flexner to seek compensation from CrowdStrike.
In a letter to Delta’s legal team, CrowdStrike argues that Delta’s public statements and lawsuit threats misrepresent the situation. The company claims Delta’s issues were not solely due to its software but also impacted by global Microsoft Windows problems.
Additionally, the firm also highlights that its liability is limited to “single-digit millions” per contractual agreement.
Meanwhile, the Department of Transportation is also investigating why Delta’s recovery was slow compared to other airlines.
