United Airlines and JetBlue Airways announced a new partnership on Thursday, expanding flight options for US travelers.

Dubbed “Blue Sky,” the alliance allows passengers to earn and redeem points across both airlines’ loyalty programs starting this fall.

United will return to New York’s JFK Airport in 2027, strengthening its Northeast presence.

The move gives JetBlue access to United’s global network, which operates nearly six times more flights than the former. In turn, United fliers can now benefit from JetBlue’s JFK schedule, a key option amid delays at Newark.

The deal follows JetBlue’s split from American Airlines and failed merger with Spirit Airlines.

Combined, United and JetBlue control over 33% of flights at New York’s three main airports, surpassing Delta’s 30%. Regulatory approval is expected under the Trump administration.
