Shopify has taken down a website promoted by rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, for selling t-shirts with a Nazi symbol. The move came after the website sold the apparel for more than 24 hours.
Ye ran a Super Bowl ad toward the end of the game, directing viewers to Yeezy.com, where a $20 t-shirt featuring a black swastika was the only product listed. The ad aired in major local TV markets, including Philadelphia, Atlanta, and Los Angeles, per the Washington Post.
Shopify removed the site, citing a violation of its terms of service. The Anti-Defamation League condemned his Super Bowl ad, calling it unacceptable.
In the 30-second ad, Ye is lying on a dentist’s chair. He jokes that he spent all his money on dental work, so he’s shooting the ad on an iPhone.
The ad aired days after Ye called himself a Nazi and praised Adolf Hitler on social media, leading to his account being deactivated.
Ye previously lost major deals with Gap and Adidas in 2022 due to antisemitic remarks.
