Lowe’s is revising its diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) policies, following similar moves by Harley-Davidson, Tractor Supply, and John Deere, all of whom have recently adjusted their DEI practices amid rising legal and public scrutiny, according to NBC News.
The retailer told its employees that it will stop participating in surveys by the Human Rights Campaign, which measures workplace inclusion for LGBTQ+ employees, and stop sponsoring Pride parades. It will also consolidate its employee resource groups into one and eliminate identity-based programs.
Lowe’s plans to focus on affordable housing, disaster relief, and skilled trades education.
The home improvement chain’s move reportedly follows pressure from conservative activist Robby Starbuck, who has targeted several firms over their DEI policies.
While corporations continue eliminating DEI programs, an April poll from The Post and Ipsos shows that 60% of Americans support DEI programs.
