Walgreens is reportedly discussing selling itself to private equity firm Sycamore Partners, according to the Wall Street Journal. The move comes as the pharmacy has seen a sharp decline in its share value.
The second-largest US pharmacy chain was valued at $100 billion in 2015; today, it is worth less than $8 billion.
Following the news, Walgreens shares surged 18%.
