European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen reaffirmed commitment to climate action|@vonderleyen|X

World leaders at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, strongly criticized President Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw the US from the Paris Agreement, with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen reaffirming their commitment to climate action.

She called the Paris pact “the best hope for all humanity” and pledged that the EU will maintain its climate goals and work with global partners to combat climate change.

UN climate chief Simon Stiell highlighted the ongoing global transition to clean energy and reiterated it would continue with or without America’s support.

Meanwhile, Trump is pushing for prioritizing fossil fuels over renewable energy in the US.

He recently declared that America is facing an energy emergency.

Trump’s actions aim to make oil and gas production cheaper while blocking clean energy projects, such as funding for building EV charging stations, which the Biden administration and Congress authorized.

Some experts argue Trump’s orders test the limits of presidential power.
