McDonald’s confirmed the breach and said they had resolved the issue

Cryptocurrency hackers claim they took over McDonald’s official Instagram account to promote a fake meme coin named after Grimace and stole thousands of dollars via a crypto rug-pull scam.

A circulating screenshot revealed the account’s bio changed to: “Sorry mah n–ga you have just been rug pulled by India_X_Kr3w thank you for the $700,000 in Solana.” The message was visible to McDonald’s 5.1 million followers.

McDonald’s confirmed the breach to the NY Post, stating they were aware of the incident and had resolved the issue.

The hackers used the account to promote the fraudulent digital currency on the Solana network, which briefly surged to $25 million before crashing, per the news site Cryptopolitan.
