A jury found Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF) guilty on all seven counts of financial fraud, including scamming investors of $8.7 billion through his cryptocurrency exchange platform FTX and its sister investment firm Alameda Research.
The fallen crypto king could face up to 115 years in prison for using investors’ money to fund political contributions and luxury real estate. Judge Lewis Kaplan set the sentencing date as March 28, 2024.
The same month, SBF will face a second trial on five counts, including bank fraud and bribing Chinese officials.
SBF’s attorneys say he will appeal the verdict. For now, he will remain in his jail cell in Brooklyn, awaiting sentencing.
