The Federal Bureau of Investigation warned US law enforcement last month that Iran could attempt surprise drone attacks in California if the United States launched strikes on Tehran.
The warning appeared in a confidential security bulletin circulated by the Los Angeles Joint Regional Intelligence Center, according to a Reuters report.
The alert has surfaced publicly as the war between the US, Israel, and Iran entered its 12th day.
Officials stressed that investigators had no details about timing, targets, or attackers. California authorities said they were not aware of any imminent threat but had increased security monitoring.
The conflict that began on February 28 has already spread across the region, with missile and drone attacks reported around Middle Eastern military bases and key oil routes.
