Judge orders Trump admin to unfreeze Harvard grants

A federal judge in Boston ordered the Trump administration to unfreeze nearly $2.2 billion in federal grants to Harvard University, ruling the freeze violated constitutional protections.

Judge Allison D. Burroughs said the administration used antisemitism as a “smokescreen” for an ideologically driven attack on universities.

Harvard had sued after receiving termination letters in May that halted vital research projects.

The ruling blocks further retaliatory freezes and affirms the university’s First Amendment and procedural rights.

Harvard President Alan Garber welcomed the decision, while the White House said the university remains ineligible for future grants.

The administration vowed to appeal, insisting the Ivy League school failed to address antisemitism adequately on campus.
