Warner Bros. (WB) hopes its A Minecraft Movie can revive the slumping ticket sales Hollywood theaters experienced in the first quarter of 2025. Preview shows have brought in over $7 million, according to Deadline.

WB projects that videogame-based films could haul $65 million in the US and the same amount worldwide, bringing its weekend box office collection to $130 million. It reportedly took $150 million to make.

The studio banks its projections on the Minecraft video game’s fanbase and a stellar cast, including Jason Momoa, Jack Black and Jennifer Coolidge. The sandbox game has sold over 300 million copies and has 140 million monthly players.
