“It Ends With Us,” a popular book that gained fame on BookTok during the 2020 pandemic, has been adapted into a movie, hoping the novel’s success would translate into the big screen.

The film, starring Blake Lively, Justin Baldoni and Brandon Sklenar, raked in $7 million during its preview screenings on Thursday. The plot centers on Lily Bloom, played by Lively, who is caught in a love triangle between her current boyfriend, Ryle Kincaid, and her first love, Atlas Corrigan.

Written by Colleen Hoover, the story has sold over 8 million copies and remained on the New York Times bestseller list for 140 weeks.

Hoover became so famous during the pandemic that in 2022, six of her books were among the top 10 bestsellers on the New York Times Fiction list, even outselling the Bible. She has since released several books yearly and sold over 35 million copies.
