James Earl Jones, the iconic actor behind the voices of Darth Vadar in Star Wars and Mufasa in The Lion King, died on Monday at 93.

Despite a severe childhood stutter, Jones became one of cinema’s most renowned voices. He also starred in classics like Field of Dreams and Coming to America.

Jones’s accolades include three Tonys, two Emmys, and a Grammy. With his honorary Oscar in 2011, he achieved EGOT status—a rare achievement among artists.

Jones continued to influence the entertainment world over a career that spanned eight decades until his retirement in 2022.
