Taylor Swift has officially regained ownership of her entire music catalog after buying back the master recordings of her first six albums.
In a heartfelt letter posted Friday, she expressed joy and gratitude to fans: “All of the music I’ve ever made… now belongs to me”.
Swift lost the rights in 2019 when Big Machine Records, her original label, sold them to Scooter Braun, her former manager. Braun later sold them to Shamrock Capital. She called the 2019 sale her “worst case scenario.”
Determined to reclaim control, she re-recorded four albums as “Taylor’s Version.”
Her historic “Eras Tour” and passionate fan support helped fund the buyback. Swift revealed she’s finished re-recording her debut album and hinted at more to come from Reputation.
