The sports streaming collab between ESPN, Fox and Warner Bros. Discovery, Venu Sports, will cost viewers $42.99 a month, the company announced yesterday. It’s expected to launch this fall.
Subscribers will get 14 live sports channels with games, including the NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB, and collegiate athletics.
The service aims to attract the 60 million US households without cable television and appeal to those who prefer streaming. It seeks to capitalize on the trend of “cord-cutting,” where more Americans are leaving cable TV behind.
Venu is reportedly cheaper than traditional cable television, which often exceeds $100 a month, and also priced lower than YouTube TV, which costs $73 a month. However, YT includes more sports content from NBC and CBS.
That said, Venu currently has access to NBA games through ESPN and TNT but may lose this after the 2024-25 season due to new deals the NBA signed with NBCUniversal, ESPN and Amazon.
