Denmark has recalled three flavors of South Korean instant ramen noodles for being dangerously spicy, potentially causing “acute poisoning.” The “fire chicken” noodles gained popularity through social media challenges and are renowned for their intense heat.

The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration flagged Buldak Hot Chicken Ramen 3x Spicy, Buldak Hot Chicken Ramen 2x Spicy and Hot Chicken Stew for excessive capsaicin levels.

Capsaicin is a naturally occurring spicy chemical in chili peppers.

Manufacturer Samyang clarified the recall wasn’t due to quality concerns but acknowledged the extreme spiciness.

The original buldak flavor scored around 4,000 on the Scoville scale, twice the heat in Tabasco sauce.
