NBA champion Stephen Curry has partnered with former First Lady Michelle Obama’s public benefit company Plezi Nutrition to launch Plezi Hydration—a sports drink marketed as healthier than competitors.
The drinks contain no added sugar or artificial sweeteners, less sodium than competitors, and a full daily dose of vitamin C.
The brand positions itself as a smarter hydration option. It will retail for $2.29 per 16.9-ounce bottle and be available online on Amazon, as well as at Walmart, Albertsons and Safeway stores in California.
Plezi enters a competitive market dominated by Gatorade (61%), Powerade (14.5%) and BodyArmor (11.8%).
It also faces competition from influencer-backed brands like Logan Paul’s Prime, as well as powder mix concentrates and oral rehydration brands such as Pedialyte and Electrolit.
