The highly anticipated action RPG Black Myth: Wukong dropped recently. The game, based on Chinese mythology, launched last week and has broken records since then. But it has also stirred some controversies.

It sold 10 million copies in just 83 hours of its release on August 20, making it one of the fastest-selling games ever. Based on the Monkey King mythology, it became Steam’s most popular single-player title on its first day, surpassing Cyberpunk 2077 and Elden Ring.

Priced at $60 in the US compared to $38 in China and Hong Kong, Black Myth has amassed over 3 million concurrent users globally across PC and PlayStation platforms.

What is the controversy?
According to IGN, Game Science has been reported to have a toxic work environment and workplace sexism. Before the launch, the marketing team behind the game had put content restrictions on livestreamers.

They were instructed to avoid topics like feminism and COVID-19 during their reviews, which led to apparent backlash.
