Nintendo announced yesterday that its much-awaited Switch 2 will launch June 5, priced around $450. It teased the console’s look in January and has now detailed the specs, hardware and games available with the product.

The new console boasts enhanced graphics, a 7.9-inch 1080p LCD screen with 120Hz refresh rate, 4K output, and Joy-Con controllers with mouse-like functions.

It has a built-in voice chat feature like Discord, allowing gamers to talk strategy in multiplayer games. It comes with 256GB of storage, a significant upgrade from its predecessor.

It has a massive line-up of exclusive games like Mario Kart World, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Donkey Kong Bananza, Kirby Air Riders, and more.

Third-party games coming to the Switch 2 this year include the long-awaited Hollow Knight: Silksong, Cyberpunk 2077 and Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade. Plus, many original Switch games can be played on the new console due to its backward compatibility.

The Switch 2 comes eight years after the first Switch, which has sold over 150 million units worldwide and remains one of the most sold gaming consoles. Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa called the new console “a leap forward.”

Nintendo has seen slowing sales in 2024 and hopes Switch 2 will revive it.
