A Tesla Cybertruck rental, packed with fireworks and fuel canisters, exploded outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas, killing one person inside the truck and injuring seven yesterday.

Evidence collection at the scene is ongoing, and police are investigating potential motives for the fire.

The explosion shot upward, leaving the truck bed intact. Surveillance video helped track the vehicle’s journey before the blast. Authorities identified the truck’s renter as using the Turo app in Colorado but have not released the name.

Officials are determining if the incident was terrorism-related. Tesla CEO Elon Musk posted on X social media saying it was confirmed that the Cybertruck explosion resulted from large fireworks and/or a bomb in the truck bed.

Investigators are also exploring links to a recent New Orleans attack that killed 15 people.
