Several people in New Jersey and surrounding areas have reported sighting multiple drones hovering over places in the past month, prompting the Departments of Defense and Homeland Security, the US Coast Guard, and the FBI to investigate the mysterious objects.

On Thursday, Senator Richard Blumenthal joined other lawmakers and called for these aircraft to be shot down “if necessary.”

These flying objects were initially spotted near the Picatinny Arsenal in Morris County, a US military research and manufacturing facility, and over President-elect Donald Trump’s golf course in Bedminster.

Sen. Blumenthal criticized the lack of transparency and urged the administration to act aggressively to address the sightings.

The sightings have still not been explained, but the Pentagon has confirmed that the drones have no connection to the Iranian “mothership” located off the East Coast and has found no evidence of a national security threat.
