Drone sightings began in November|@JerzyBets|X

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) placed drone flight restrictions over certain parts of New Jersey. Following the move, Governor Kathy Hochul said yesterday that federal authorities plan to temporarily ban flights over critical infrastructure sites in New York state.

Hochul did not provide much details on the ban and what sites would be covered, calling the decision “purely precautionary.”

The NJ restrictions, limited to 400 feet of altitude, are strictly for drones, not civilian airplanes or helicopters.

The ban comes amid reports of increased, unexplained drone sightings from residents over the past month.
