Firefighters worked on containing multiple new wildfires across Southern California on Thursday, including the Hughes fire near Santa Clarita, which has burned over 10,000 acres and was 36% contained.

A new blaze, the Sepulveda fire, ignited near Bel-Air but was 60% contained by evening.

Over 16,000 people remained under evacuation orders, with 38,700 more under warnings.

Red-flag warnings for extreme fire conditions are still in effect, with winds up to 70 mph.

The fires follow devastating blazes, including the Palisades and Eaton fires, which have destroyed over 15,000 structures and claimed at least 28 lives.
