A witness testified to the House Ethics Committee that President-elect Donald Trump’s attorney general pick, Matt Gaetz, had sex with a 17-year-old girl at a party in 2017.
The woman, represented by attorney Joel Leppard, said she saw the encounter at a drug-fueled gathering. She and another witness also told the House panel that Gaetz paid them for sex at similar parties, with payments made through Venmo and PayPal, according to their lawyer.
The testimonies are part of Congress’s investigation into claims of sexual misconduct against the former Florida congressman.
Gaetz has denied both the allegations. He is seeking a chance to clear his name in a Senate hearing.
Several Republican senators have questioned Gaetz’s nomination, which faces hurdles due to the allegations.
