Drone sightings began in November|@JerzyBets|X

Officials across the East Coast are pushing the federal government for answers following a wave of mysterious drone sightings near sensitive areas.

Recent drone-related runway and airspace disruptions at New York Stewart International Airport and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base have heightened public unease.

Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin and Connecticut state Sen. Tony Hwang criticized a lack of communication from federal agencies. At the same time, New Jersey Rep. Josh Gottheimer urged more transparency from the FBI, FAA and Homeland Security.

However, New Jersey Senator Andy Kim (D-NJ), who chased these drones with local police, recently said that most drone sightings pointed out to him were “almost certainly planes.”

Last week, Sen. Richard Blumenthal and other lawmakers called for these aircraft to be shot down “if necessary.”

Investigations into the sightings have not found evidence of wrongdoing by foreign nations.

He acknowledged follow-ups are needed on 100 out of 5,000 drone sightings reported in the past few weeks. The Biden administration says it will continue monitoring and improving communication as sightings persist. The sightings began in November.
