World leaders react to Trump’s election victory and future

Global leaders poured in messages, showing their support for President-elect Donald Trump yesterday.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was among the first to congratulate Trump, calling the win “history’s greatest comeback!”

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni praised the “unshakeable” US-Italy ties, while Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in a social media post, expressed hopes that Turkey-US relations would strengthen, addressing issues like the Palestinian conflict and the Russia-Ukraine war.

Other leaders from countries like Qatar, Egypt, and the UK expressed hope for continued cooperation with America under Trump’s leadership.

Colombian President Gustavo Petro acknowledged the US democratic process but criticized Trump’s border policies and warned about the economic impact on climate change efforts.

Brazil’s Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva congratulated Trump, while Afghanistan’s Taliban regime, recalling the 2020 Doha Agreement, expressed hopes for better US relations under his leadership. 

The Taliban’s foreign ministry emphasized the need for a pragmatic approach to resolving regional conflicts, particularly in Gaza and Lebanon. 

As Trump prepares to return to the White House, many countries are considering what his leadership will mean for international relations and global stability. Despite differing views, many leaders expressed their desire for constructive dialogue and progress in global relations.

Business leaders, including Elon Musk, Marc Andreessen, Bill Ackman, and Jeff Bezos, also poured in messages on social media.
