President Donald Trump posted Tuesday on Truth Social that he would delay planned strikes on Iranian infrastructure for two weeks.

According to an agreement mediated by Pakistan, the US will not bomb Iran for two weeks till the final terms of the ceasefire are hammered out. The truce is contingent on Iran reopening the Strait of Hormuz.

The news of the ceasefire came about an hour-and-a-half before Trump’s 8 p.m. Hormuz deadline.

In the lead-up to the cutoff, Trump intensified online threats, cautioning that a “whole civilization would die” without a deal.

The statement came after US forces hit over 90 military sites on Kharg Island, a key oil export hub.

In a separate development, US hostage Shelly Kittleson was reportedly freed by an Iranian-backed militia in Iraq.
