Amid the ongoing tariff tensions, newly elected Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney met President Donald Trump at the Oval Office yesterday.

The meeting began on a friendly note, but after Trump again suggested that Canada become the 51st state, Carney said, “It’s not for sale, it won’t be for sale — ever,” adding, “there are some places that are never for sale. You’re sitting in one right now.”

Before the meeting, Trump had posted on Truth Social reiterating complaints about the trading relationship, but the sit-down between the two was cordial.
