Chinese President Xi Jinping’s attendance at the White House on Thursday marks the leader’s first such visit in over a decade.
Xi and President Donald Trump held bilateral talks in the Oval Office ahead of the state dinner, which drew a high-profile guest list of top government officials from both countries and global business leaders.
The guest list included Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Apple CEO Tim Cook, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Google CEO Sundar Pichai, and BlackRock CEO Larry Fink. Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Jamie Dimon also attended.
Trump described the meeting as “great,” while Xi said they had “sincere and in-depth exchanges” and found common ground on several issues. Neither leader provided details of any new agreements.
The two leaders will visit the US National Archives today before Xi leaves Washington. They are expected to view the Declaration of Independence, Constitution and Bill of Rights, along with materials documenting US-China relations.
Xi’s state visit comes as Washington and Beijing extended the tariff truce, easing immediate pressure on their trade relationship.
