Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is meeting President Donald Trump and Sunday|@ZelenskyyUa|X

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky told Axios that he would take the US-proposed peace plan to a national referendum, provided Russia agrees on a 60-day ceasefire. He is set to meet President Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago on Sunday.

Zelensky added that Trump’s plan includes territorial concessions, the terms of which he hopes to improve, and said he’ll need the approval of the Ukrainian people if the talks fail. He is also skeptical whether Russia would agree to the peace framework.

His meeting with Trump would also involve bilateral US-Ukraine agreements with security guarantees. However, America is proposing a 15-year pact, while Zelensky is pushing for a longer duration.

Zelensky hopes the event will establish a formal plan to end the war.
