Three Israeli hostages—Romi Gonen, Doron Steinbrecher and Emily Damari—were freed on Sunday under a ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas. The captives underwent medical evaluations upon arrival in southern Israel before they were transferred to hospitals.

In exchange, Israel released 90 Palestinian prisoners, including women and teens, in a move facilitated by the Red Cross.

The release marks the first phase of a deal in which Hamas will release 33 hostages over six weeks.

The ceasefire, negotiated through US and Qatar mediation, will last 42 days, with further exchanges every seven days as the Israeli military moves out of Gaza.

The second phase of the ceasefire will also be discussed over the upcoming weeks.

The deal also includes a buffer zone inside Gaza and aid trucks entering the region.

The third phase includes the reconstruction of the region and the return of bodies of deceased hostages and prisoners.
