South Korea’s embattled President, Yoon Suk Yeol, is effectively sidelined and will no longer handle state affairs; the ruling party and the prime minister will. The move comes after Yoon briefly imposed martial law.

On Saturday, Yoon staved off impeachment led by the opposition. The party would look for Yoon’s “orderly early retreat,” said the head of the conservative People Power Party.

Meanwhile, legal scrutiny of Yoon’s martial law decision is growing. Prosecutors are investigating the president for treason.
