Ukraine launched a strike on a Russian weapons facility in Bryansk, using US-made ATACMS missiles, marking the first such use of these longer-range weapons inside Russia.

The attack occurred on the 1,000th day of the war, just two days after President Joe Biden authorized Ukraine to use long-range weapons against Russian targets.

The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed six missiles were fired, five of which were intercepted, but fragments caused a fire at the facility.

The missile strike comes amid escalating tensions, with North Korean troops deployed to Russia’s Kursk region and Western allies debating further military support for Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Russia’s President Vladimir Putin updated its nuclear doctrine, lowering the threshold for a nuclear retaliation.

The US remains cautious but continues to supply Ukraine with advanced weaponry. At the same time, Russian rhetoric intensifies, warning of a new phase of war.
