New York can now impose restrictions on carrying firearms on private property without the owner’s consent|MTSOfan|CC BY-NC-SA 2.0
A federal appeals court allowed New York to restrict people from carrying guns on private properties without the owner’s permission.
Monday’s ruling comes after the Supreme Court in June struck down the state’s strict gun permits and allowed an individual to carry a handgun for self-defense.
The new law would make it difficult for citizens to obtain a gun license and would restrict them from carrying guns in places like stadiums, museums, public transport, Times Square, places of worship, and private properties.
Any person found in a restricted area with any firearm would be charged with a felony.
