The Trump administration cited the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to justify the deportations|@nayibbukele|X

A federal judge ordered the Trump administration to provide information about planes that carried Venezuelans who were deported despite orders not to.

Yesterday, a federal judge questioned the Trump administration if it violated his ruling that ordered the return of planes carrying migrants that the government alleged belonged to a Venezuelan gang.

However, the Trump team argued that the judge’s initial oral ruling to block the flights and his written order did not demand the same thing. He also said the orders were issued too late, and the judge didn’t have jurisdiction over the planes once they left the US airspace.

Notably, the Justice Department asked a DC appeals court to remove the judge from the case.
