Gun control advocates praised the decision, warning of unregulated guns’ role in crime

The Supreme Court ruled 7-2 in favor of the Biden administration’s regulation of ghost gun kits, requiring them to be treated like regular firearms under the Gun Control Act.

Justice Neil Gorsuch wrote the majority opinion, rejecting arguments from gun rights groups.

The regulation, enforced since August 2022, mandates manufacturers to obtain licenses, mark products with serial numbers, conduct background checks and maintain records.

Gun control advocates praised the decision, warning of unregulated guns’ role in crime. Critics argued it oversteps government authority.

The ruling excludes complex kits but impacts firearm regulations, with future legal challenges expected.
