Veteran political journalist Chris Wallace announced Monday that he is leaving CNN, which he joined three years ago, to pursue independent content creation in the streaming and podcasting worlds.

The 77-year-old broadcaster told The Daily Beast that his decision was not due to dissatisfaction but a desire to explore new opportunities.

He joined CNN in December 2021 with a three-year contract. While there, Wallace hosted Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace? and anchored the network’s election coverage.

Previously, he worked at Fox News for 18 years, hosting Fox News Sunday. He became known for speaking out against former President Donald Trump’s attacks on the press and for moderating the 2020 presidential debate.
