With tickets costing $599 and expenses like lodging, food, drinks and merch easily topping $1,000, Coachella isn’t cheap—especially for its younger audience, many of whom have chosen the concert’s payment plan starting as low as $49.99 upfront.
The installment option is a big hit: nearly 60% of Coachella attendees this year have opted to listen now and pay later. The two-weekend festival is expecting 80,000–100,000 fans.
It’s part of a broader trend
Other fests like Lollapalooza and EDC now offer similar affordability plans when selling tickets. These are typically provided via platforms like AXS and Ticketmaster; for Coachella (which ends on Sunday), these platforms charged a $41 fee for payment plans.
Critics call these fees a money grab, but promoters argue the system is essential for bridging affordability and cash flow for large-scale events.
