So far, 19 kids and two adults have been killed when an 18-year-old gunman opened fire at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas on Tuesday.
According to officials, the shooter wore body armor and even exchanged fire with law enforcement on the scene. The suspect was confirmed dead after he was wounded by the police.
The Texas Elementary shooting is the deadliest attack since the 2012 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut—the gunman had killed 26 people, including 20 children between the ages of five and six.
President Biden urges new firearm restrictions
While addressing the horror of the Texas elementary school shooting, President Joe Biden remarked, “As a nation we have to ask when in God’s name are we going to stand up to the gun lobby?
He also urged Congress that “we have to act.” Democrats demand “commonsense” gun reform legislation and request their Republican colleagues to help pass it.
Calling the shooting “truly horrific” Republican Senator Ted Cruz rejected the Democrats’ plea for gun reform and proposed additional security at schools.
