FDA allows import of baby formula cans from UK|Petr Kratochvil|CC0 1.0

About 2 million cans of infant formula will be available in the US by this June from Britain as the FDA is easing regulations to tackle the formula shortage. The move would make infant formula import easier.

The FDA was exercising enforcement discretion to allow Britain-based Kendal Nutricare to import infant formula under the Kendamil brand.

Kendal has 40,000 cans in stock for immediate dispatch that the Department of Health and Human Services is working on bringing into the country as soon as possible.

The FDA added it would allow the release of about 300,000 cans of Abbott's EleCare amino acid-based formula for children who urgently need it to survive on a case-by-case basis.
