A vigil will be held today at 6.30 p.m at Cesar Chavez Park at the corner of 7th and K Streets to honor and remember victims of the Sunday shootings.
The Sacramento Police Department on Sunday clarified the final count of victims in the K street shooting as six. The 12 survivors are being treated in hospitals.
During the late hours of Sunday, a viral video was circulating on social media showing a brawl outside a nightclub in Sacramento. It is suspected that this brawl led to a barrage of gunfire, which is heard moments later in the same video.
As a quick response to the video, the Sacramento PD has created a QR code for citizens to share any other such videos or information they have about the incident.
The city of Sacramento has endured similar mass shootings within the past five weeks. President Joe Biden called for action on gun crimes in a statement Sunday.
“Today, America once again mourns for another community devastated by gun violence,” Biden said. “But we must do more than mourn; we must act.”
