Amazon is launching over 3000 satellites.
The company announced Tuesday what it claims is the biggest rocket deal in the history of the commercial space industry.
The tech giant is all set for 83 launches for its multi-billion-dollar ‘Project Kuiper’ Internet satellites.
Amazon has signed contracts with three spacecraft firms—United Launch Alliance (ULA) for 38 launches, European company Arianespace for 18 launches, and Blue Origin, a Jeff Bezos-owned venture for 12 launches.
Amazon vs SpaceX, the game is on
With over 3000 Internet satellites and billions of dollars at play, Amazon’s Project Kuiper is now a strong rival against SpaceX’s Starlink which has launched up to 2000 satellites.
The world has to wait a few years, 2026 to be exact, to witness the launch of at least half of Amazon’s satellites into orbit.
