President Joe Biden to resume family reunification program|Gage Skidmore|CC BY-SA 2.0

The Biden administration announced that it would resume the family reunification program in Cuba and expand flights and consular services there, reversing the sanctions imposed during the Trump era.

The Biden Administration would allow US citizens, including permanent residents, to apply for their immediate family members in Cuba to enter the US borders without an immigrant visa.

Biden’s government will also expand consular and visa processing services in Havana.

The $1000 per quarter limit on remittances to Cubans will end as well, but the government will ensure that the payment doesn’t reach human rights abusers.

The reason
The move is an attempt by the US to support the people of Cuba and restore the diplomatic relationship between the two countries.
