President Joe Biden nominated Admiral Linda Fagan, the first female uniformed officer to lead a service in the US armed forces.

Admiral Fagan is also the first female officer to become a four-star Admiral.

If approved by the Senate, Admiral Fagan would become the 27th Commandant of the US Coast Guard, succeeding Admiral Karl Schultz—currently serving as the Commandant of the Coast Guard since 2018.

With Admiral Karl Schultz retiring from the forces in May, Admiral Fagan’s nomination might go to the Senate soon.
