A bird flu outbreak has been identified in flocks of domestic poultry in Virginia and Kentucky, the U.S. Department of Agriculture revealed Monday. This comes only days after Indiana officials were forced to euthanize 29,000 turkeys owing to the virus' spread. In recent weeks, dozens of wild birds have tested positive for the disease throughout the East Coast. Avian flu is normally asymptomatic in wild birds but can be fatal in farmed poultry. The mass culling of the birds comes at a time when the agriculture business is already under pressure from growing inflation and supply chain concerns.
